 The Meaning Behind "Âme"

(am) noun, feminine

1. soul; spirit; heart; essence 

Âme means soul in French. Stephanie, the founder, puts her soul and love into each handcrafted product. She hopes you feel as though you're wrapped in luxury while using ÂME. 

Our Humble Beginning

While in college, I suffered from extremely dry skin for the longest until I began creating natural skincare products in my college kitchen. After using my creations, I noticed an improvement in not only my skin but also in my family and friends’ skin after using my products. Initially, I was apprehensive to start my business, however, with the encouragement of my ambitious (now late) friend Sacha, I dived in headfirst and Âme was born (pronounced [ah-m].

I created my small business called ÂME SKINCARE to solve skin problems varying from eczema, hyperpigmentation, dryness, acne, and more. Given my interest in pursuing dermatology, I created the brand for people with sensitive skin who want to avoid harsh ingredients in their skincare.  I put my soul into my craft hence the name Âme, meaning “soul” in French.

Moreover, I enjoy researching various ingredients to experiment with in products. It was on a late-night research binge when I found a passion for essential oils and their use in skincare. In the spring of 2019, I conducted and presented my independent research study on The Effects of Essential Oils on Stress, Anxiety, and Cortisol Reduction. After learning their many benefits, I continue to incorporate them into my recipes. While creating these products, I take the time to research every ingredient carefully. This is because I want to ensure that none of the components would cause allergic reactions or skin damage. After extensive and continuous research of emulsifiers, plant oils, ceramides, essential oils, fragrances, etc., I was able to settle on a set of ingredients for my products where I felt confident that these ingredients would not cause injury to the users and would be beneficial.

I graduated from the University of Central Florida and earned my Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences Pre-Clinical in 2020. Since graduation, I have been pouring my energy into my business to blend the knowledge I have gained over the past four years with my passion for effective skincare.

Currently, I am a third year osteopathic medical student (student doctor) and plan to grow the brand even larger after graduation.
